Hi, please allow me to introduce myself...
My name is Xiunu Zhou, pronounced (shonew show), but you can call me Rebekah. I am from Zhoushan China and have family roots all the way back to Shanghai where my mother's father, my grandfather, had his own tailor shop some time ago.

I have been in the tailoring trade since the tender age of 10 years old when I started helping around my grandfathers custom suit shop every day after school. At first I didn't do much other than run errands take him food to eat and help keep the shop organized and cleaned. One day to keep me out of his way, my grandfather put me in another room hand sewing buttons and button holes and any other items that needed hand sewn work. After a while I learned to use the sewing machine and I started to put together the parts of the suits my grandfather would cut out for a customers new made to order custom suit.

Now that I was gaining skills on the asssembly of the parts, my interest was peaked to learn more about the patterns and how to measure and cut out each panel and peice so all the parts would go together to create a beautifully tailored suite.
Well, I was just a little girl and and my grandfather didn't see the need to teach me, and considered my efforts to learn more of a nuisance than genuine interest and would constantly shew me away to the sewing machine to do my work.
As much as I could, I would sneek and spy on him measuring a new customer and make note of how and where he would take the measurements.

After sometime, I was able to figure out on my own, how the parts went together and came out to form a coat and pants or a three piece suit to include a vest. So now I paid more attention to the tiny details of how each piece was cut, and re-measured them to reverse engineer how to cut each of the pieces from the measurements taken.
Once my grandfather caught on to my tenacity for sincerely learning the trade, he started to increase the level and difficulty of the work he gave me, but the monetary compensation and time spent to further my training did not.

As time moved on, so did I, as I hadn't yet won over my grandfathers respect or his will to train me any further. So around the age of 19 I opened my own small shop and started doing alterations and making womens apparel to include dresses, pant suits and cashmere coats.

Now that I wasn't around for sometime, my grandfather inquired into my whereabouts, and was astounded to find out I had opened my own shop and was doing a pretty decent business for myself. Only after he realized the level of my talents, now that I had my own shop, he wanted me back to help him in his shop to get caught up with a few back orders.
I honored his request and went back for a short period of time to help him out. After turning 21 I opened another store and continued with my original buisness plan.

So how did I end up in Garner NC all the way from Zhoushan China you ask?
Well as fate, destiny and God's plan would have it, I met my husband Chris online and we started out just chatting about similarities in our lives and the differences in our countries and cultures.

After a period of time we decided we liked each other enough, so Chris flew out to China to meet me and my family. After this visit, we figured we liked each other enough to get married, so Chris flew back to China 6 months later and we did!

So now I'm here in the U.S. and want to pursue my passion to design create and make beautiful articles of clothing for women and help those that are hard to find the right fit for in the retail market, get the alterations they need to help them look and feel as beautiful and special as they deserve to.

When it comes to your special day ladies, I can assist you and your bridesmaids with wedding dress alterations and embellishments and formal gown adjustments.

My talents aren't only reserved just for womens clothing either. I can make custom business dress shirts, pants and other items as needed for men as well.
Need a matching his and hers flannel shirt, or a mother daughter matching dress or a father son matching flannel shirt, I can make your ideas come to reality with just a few measurements, a brief consultation and a little time.

As previously mentioned about being one of those hard to find the right fit for people. I can make those ill fitting finds look like they were custom made just for you.
So ladies and gentlemen now that you know I'm in town, I look forward to meeting you, your ideas and alteration needs.

See you soon.

Thanks -
Rebekah
